Café Joyeux is a local coffee roaster and shop that was looking for a refreshed brand and corresponding packaging design.
My client relationship had already begun with the owner as I had completed various hand lettering projects for their in-house signage and chalkboards, so the next step into a rebrand conversation was very natural.
At its heart, the café is built around a simple but meaningful commitment: earth-friendly and human-friendly coffee that is always organic and fair trade. It’s a space designed to feel approachable and comfortable — the kind of place where people genuinely want to linger.
Café Joyeux lives at the intersection of industrial and natural. Think exposed brick, metal, and raw wood balanced against florals, plants, and organic textures. The interior plays with a warm palette of primary tones — a bold coffee-machine red, denim blue, lemon yellow, and natural wood browns against clean white walls — giving the space personality without feeling overdone. The overall direction leans toward the bright, clean, and minimalist — a Montréal-influenced sensibility that feels fresh and welcoming rather than dark or heavy.
I completed a full brand and packaging project for Café Joyeux, guided by the same values and visual language that define their space. Every design decision was rooted in who they are: a café that takes its ethics seriously while keeping its doors wide open to everyone.
